washington, d.c.

I went out to Washington D.C last weekend for my step sister Megan’s wedding. I had such a good time. The wedding was beautiful and it was so fun to see my family and meet new family. I haven’t been to DC since I was little so seeing all the monuments and important buildings was freaking rad. The wedding was held at DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) which is a gorgeous building right across from the White House.

Not only did I get to go the wedding and check out all the monuments but the Cherry Blossoms were in full bloom and I saw the Obama Mobile!!! The whole time I was in DC I was looking for the Obama Mobile- there are always so many helicopters flying around DC so I was on the lookout for Marine One the whole weekend…I was determined to see Obama! Anyway, I was at the Tidal Basin checking out the Cherry Blossoms on my last day and a helicopter was flying super low and my dad was like thats too small to be Marina One but then it got a bit closer and it said ‘United States of America’ on it and flew over to the White House to land…I was so excited. haha. Sweeeeet.

Yah so I was in DC for like 3.5 days and I got shit done…saw most the monuments, went to Alexandria, went to the wedding, saw the Cherry Blossoms, went to Coppi’s restaurant, got my dance on near Georgetown and even flexed it up at Ballys…Good times!

spring forward.

Last weekend was bad ass.

It was spring forward (ie. LONG DAYS!!), I rode DH & I learned to ride moto!

I went out to Port Angeles with Muki (Richard Mukai). I hadn’t seen Muki for ages so it was great to catch up. Port Angeles was sweet. We almost bailed last minute because PA got a snow storm the night before but we decided to head out there anyway. Definitely a good choice. The Olympic Dirt Society hosted a Spring Shuttle Day so there were quite a few familiar faces. The turnout was way bigger than I thought it would be…clear indication that people are ready for bikes. Anyway, the trails were a bit snowy but I still had a blast shredding with the boys. The traction was pretty good and I got my drift on all day. It felt so good to get back on the bike!!

Monday I went out to Eastern Washington with Muki, his friend Chris and their ladies. haha. Chris let me borrow his mini moto. The mini was perfect to learn on as it was a 110 with a 160 kit on it. I felt quite at home on it. Getting used to the motor and shifting was difficult but the size was super similar to my DH bike and the thing was AMAZING in the corners. The biggest problem that I had was that I kept accidently pulling and pushing on the bars…not good for the throttle. I have a few nice bruises. haha. I need to buy one. I tried Muki’s 250 and it was pretty scary (especially considering my pull/push problem). I looked like an absolute retard on the thing. Muki was a good teacher…he led me around the track and made me do what I was supposed to do. I have a lot to learn but I am keen!!!

Anyway, It was a great weekend to say the least. I am buying a moto.

Sea Otter is a month and a half away and I cannot wait to get riding again. Sometimes I complain about the winter and all the white stuff and whine about how I want to ride my bike but taking a little break from riding during the winter and getting in some shred time on the skis and lots of time in the gym makes jumping back on the bike that much better.

I have been doing lots of gym work and I love it. I mean sometimes I hate it and feel like I want to puke my brains out….but in general, I love it.
