I went on a field trip down to the Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre last week and the guy who was hosting us looked EXACTLY like the PC guy from the Mac commercials. He was great and it was a good laugh to say the least!

So I went down to Vancouver last weekend for Gabe Foxs dirty thirty birthday party! I drove down with the Whistler crew in the Black Box van which was a good time. Gabe rented out a boat which cruised around Vancouver for four hours so it got pretty messy. There were loads of laughs. All of the usual suspects were there. It was great to see the bike family because people have seemed to go into hibernation already now that winter is here. The next morning there was a big breakfast at gabers- ammmazing. I am hiring smash as my private cook! Anyway, it was a good time to say the least. Sorry for the lack of updates the past two weeks. I have been swamped with school as I just had my last day of classes on Friday and I have my first final tomorrow. Wish me luck!

My friends and I made a tradition of ‘family dinners’ this summer and we had a bit of a dry stretch in the fall but I am happy to say they are back in full swing. We have had 3 full on family dinners in a row…taco night, stir fry night and last night was chili night. It is nice to just chill out and enjoy each others company, have some laughs, eat some good food and drink some good wine.

I want to get some coordination in the air so that I can learn some tricks this winter so I have been going to tramp class once a week for the last 2 months. Its a ton of fun and definitely good for the skills. It has been really good for my balance. It is also good because I feel like I have started to wrap my head around some stuff and understand that learning most stuff really just takes commitment. You just have to decide to do it, know you can do it and do it. I know that from riding because as long as you are committed you are probably going to be fine but it is easy to forget when you are out of your element in other sports or in life in general. Yup. Life lesson there for you all. hahahah.

I have been getting pretty antsy for the mountain to open up although I must say I am loving the change of seasons and the chilled out vibe in town right now, it is a nice calm before the storm. Anyway, yesterday a few friends and I went out to Cheakamus- no bikes this time, we just walked. It was good to get some fresh air and bond with the buddies. We just hung out, skipped rocks and had a rock knocking contest. Good times.

Im pretty excited about this. I am down in the States and it just seems like there is this great new energy. Obama has a lot of work ahead of him but I think that he will do a great job. His acceptance speech was brilliant- quite serious but I think that is exactly how it needed to be, he came out strong and too the point straight away. It was a beautiful sight- all of them on the stage, definitely a moment I will never forget. It is amazing to think that less than 50 years ago a the black population was totally segregated and now we have a black president. It is a beautiful thing and it gives me a lot of hope for the future.
